Distinguishable features: Hosts annual Alberta Book Awards. Participates in book fairs and booksellers’ conventions, library events, teachers’ conventions and public festivals.

The Stroll of Poets Society

Address: Society events take place in a variety of locations around Edmonton (Eg. Upper Crust Restaurant, Audrey’s Books)

Type of association: Provide poets with opportunities to learn and improve their craft and connect with audiences.

Target membership: Supportive community of artists that welcomes members of all ages and all levels of experience.

Type of literature: Variety of poetry from Edmonton artists. The society publishes an annual anthology to showcase the work of members, both of established and new writers. Members receive free copy, additional copies are sold at readings and local bookstores.

Distinguishable features: Hosts workshops, annual general meetings and the anthology launch, maintains a website, weekly e-newsletter and a Facebook page to update members on activities.

Writers’ Guild of Alberta

Distinguishable features: Hosts retreats, youth programs, and conferences.
